There are several beautiful locations for scuba diving in the Bahamas. Some of these spots are better suited to experienced divers while others are ideal for beginners who are interested in trying the activity for the first time. Many visitors to these islands seem to spend most of their time in the water and dive from the minute they arrive, right up to last moment before they return home.
Hartley's Undersea Walk is unique and experienced divers will find that it is different from any other location that they may have been to in the past. Persons who have been on the walk say that it is a remarkable journey. It is ideal for a group of participants who have been snorkeling before and are looking for something to create memories that will last a long time.
The Andros Barrier reef is one of the largest unexplored territories in the Atlantic. You will be able to see fascinating geological formations and coral. There are shallow reefs which begin at ten feet, creating the ideal spot for snorkeling or shallow diving. If you would like to go deeper, some reefs extend to ninety feet. An adventure awaits those who venture out to see the breathtaking blue holes in the area. Guides also take tours out on wreck dives.
Scuba diving in the Bahamas allows you to see and touch many of the living creatures in the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the reasons why residents and visitors make an effort to master the techniques of snorkeling when they have the opportunity. Bahamian instructors and crews in the Out Islands, San Salvador, Andros and Bimini are very friendly and welcoming.
Parents can encourage their children to start lessons in scuba diving in the Bahamas from an early age. Dive schools in Andros have Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth, which allows children as young as five to enjoy the water comfortably. Younger people may be scared at first but the Blue Holes and appealing azure portals in Grand Bahama and San Salvador are sure to captivate them.
With the support of capable teachers such as those in the Out Islands, young scuba divers gain a new skill that opens up a whole new world to them. The Bahamas Out Islands have unbelievably clear waters. This is perfect for persons who are interested in underwater photography or video. The feeling of diving off a wall in this region is thrilling and is often compared to flying over the edge of the Grand Canyon.
Dolphin encounters and shark feeding dives in Grand Bahama are great for both beginners and experts. The Out Islands provide you with views of brightly colored fish, bizarrely shaped sponges and graceful eagle rays. There are also plenty of angelfish, barracuda, miniature crabs and shrimp. The night offers a completely different view of these waters and you may even glimpse a mythical blue hole dwelling monster.
If you are definitely interested in wall diving, Bimini, Andros and Conception Island are the best places to go. Really advanced divers will enjoy the Nodules in Bimini. This is a wall dive that starts at seventy feet and drops into the Gulf Stream. Conception Island has a Marine Park that is great for beginners and experienced individuals who want to enjoy scuba diving in the Bahamas.
